Our Mission is to connect youth with river-based learning experiences that inspire confidence, ecological understanding, nature appreciation, and conservation action. Students will be given paddling instructions, safety guidelines and will spend the week with our American Canoe Association and Wilderness First Responder trained staff.

Our on-the-water explorations engage students with new skills, scientific techniques, and historical insight to better understand and enjoy the James River. Campers will also learn proper paddling techniques and about water safety – all while having fun with friends. Campers will have several opportunities to fish (you may bring your own fishing gear or JRA will supply it), and we will provide lessons on proper fishing techniques, as well as teach about the anatomy of a fish. Maximum capacity is 20 campers/week.
